Teeth Whitening FAQs
When looking into a new treatment, it’s normal to have lots of questions about what’s involved in the process. Teeth whitening, although a common treatment, is no different – so in this post, the experts at our Lancaster dental practice answer those frequently asked questions, covering everything from aftercare to treatment, to key dos and don’ts.
One of the most burning questions you’ll have about teeth whitening is no doubt the cost. At our Lancaster dental practice, we routinely carry out this type of treatment, so you can trust that we’ll carry it out safely and effectively. While this makes the process more pricey than the high street variety, you’re paying for care, expertise and a more powerful (and protective) treatment. There are several factors at play here. First of all, as a procedure, teeth whitening should always be carried out by a dental professional who is a member of the General Dental Council (GDC). Second of all, while in-practice treatments are more powerful, they are also balanced out with protective chemicals. While sensitivity can be an issue, with our treatment, there’s a smaller risk and if it does happen, it should pass quickly – and it can also be eased with sensitive toothpastes. If you’re interested in the treatment, we’ll book you in for a consultation to assess your suitability. It isn’t always recommended, for example, for those with gum disease. No, but in situations where it’s only one tooth (or the odd tooth) affected, you may be able to have the work replaced to reflect your brighter smile. Yes, including: – Smoking – a staining habit and bad for your dental (and overall) health Contrary to popular belief, whitening gums, and at-home remedies such as baking soda, have very little effect on the brightness of your smile. In-practice teeth whitening is much more effective and gives lasting results, too. When considering (or undergoing) treatment, there are a few other things to bear I mind: – Touch-ups may be recommended, to prolong results Simply get in touch with our team and we’ll arrange a suitability consultation. From there, we’ll then start your journey to a more brilliant smile. Is teeth whitening expensive?
